Disability Programs
In many schools a learning support team - of teachers,
parents/caregivers, other support staff and students - meets regularly
to make sure the ongoing needs of students with disabilities are met.
School community members may help with:
 | learning programs developed by teaching staff |
 | mobility |
 | personal care |
 | safety |
 | health care procedures |
 | liaison between the school and its community |
 | special provisions, such as a 'reader' or 'writer' for an
examination |
To be eligible for these programs students must have an identified
disability as defined by the Department of Education and Training
criteria and have essential educational needs that are directly related
to their identified disability.
